Mammoths sign Defensive Lineman Eric Banford

PORTLAND- Eric Banford (6’1,278) signs with the Maine Mammoths for his third year of arena football.

In 2017, Banford played for the Duke City Gladiators as a defensive lineman. During his time with Duke City he played in seven games adding 21 tackles (7.5 for a loss) one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. In 2015, he split time between the Green Bay Blizzard and the Billings Wolves where he played both nose guard and defensive end. During his 2015 rookie season he recorded 15 tackles, five sacks, three blocked kicks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and earned Week 8 Player of Week Honor Mention.

Banford started his college career at Foothill College and played two seasons. In those two seasons, Banford recorded 92 tackles, 26.5 of which were for a loss. He also had 18.5 sacks. Banford returned a fumble recovery for a 96 yard touchdown in his freshman year. Banford was a two-time All-NORCAL Conference selection. In 2011, Banford transferred to Western Carolina University. In 2011, Banford played in 11 games, had 25 tackles and one pass breakup. In 2012, Banford started all 11 games, recorded 28 tackles, and one fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

Banford is a native of Newalk, California and attended Newark Memorial High School in Newark, California.

The Maine Mammoths are members of the National Arena League (NAL).
